The Green Project

The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich, and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet; and were inculcated to address the global challenges faced globally which include poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.

These 17 goals were established as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all see here and the aim is to learn more about and take action.

In taking action, the green project discourses and adopts ways to take action in raising environmentally and socially conscious individuals in the area of environmental sustainability/environmental protection via my teaching and research within the academe.

  • Global Environmental Project: This project was initiated as a result of the prerequisite to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the impact of engineering activity on the society, economy, industrial and physical environment by advanced diploma engineering students. It has become highly imperative that the impact of engineering activities on the environment is well understood and managed to foster green interventions and a shift towards renewable technologies.

  • The Green Campus Initiativewhich began at the Adeyemi College Campus, a college of Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria by Dr. Adenike Akinsemolu and later transitioned into the Green Institute was fostered by several collaborations. The initiative created Green ambassadors on college campuses across Nigeria, to positively impact how Nigerian youth incorporate green living into all elements of their lives. It is envisaged that the trained student leaders will systematically transform attitudes about environmentalism in Africa’s most populated and polluted country.
